World of Warcraft: Forever launches November 4, 2026, at 15:00 PST / 23:00 UTC. In Paris, that is 00:00 CET on November 5. Before creating characters, agree on the two choices that determine whether your group can adventure together: ruleset and faction. Check the launch schedule.

WoW Forever launches November 4: choose your ruleset before you level

Forever is a separate home alongside modern WoW and Classic, rebuilding the original level 1–60 journey. It is not the Midnight update your retail character is waiting for.

Teamplay lets you describe the WoW adventure you want and find other players interested in joining. Here is what to settle before your first session together.

Familiar continents, new reasons to explore

Forever expands the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor with more than 1,000 new quests. Its destinations include Mount Hyjal, Shen’dralas, the Riverglades and Zephras Isle. New character combinations include Dwarf Shamans, Undead Paladins and Human Hunters. Explore the returning-player guide.

The account-wide Legacy System rewards broader exploration and progression. Blizzard says its character advantages can be earned on one character, so building multiple alts is not mandatory.

For a returning group, decide which part of that journey you want to share. An evening learning abilities and reading quests asks for different company from a party organizing its first dungeon. Say which sounds appealing before anyone feels obliged to hurry.

Check access before arranging the evening

Forever is included with an active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time. Optional upgrade packs are not required for ordinary access. The Skyborne race and its Zephras Isle starting experience require the Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher. Check access and optional upgrades.

Install the Forever game version in Battle.net. Blizzard’s starter guide lists Windows and Mac; controller support is described as beta. Read the setup guide. Check the account and license you intend to use before the session, rather than assuming a character in another WoW branch is ready to join.

Choose a starting experience everyone can access. The plan below works without making the optional Skyborne upgrade a condition for joining your group.

Rulesets replace the old realm decision

Forever begins with a Ruleset rather than a traditional realm list. Four choices are available at launch:

  • Normal: world adventuring, with PvP at your discretion.
  • PvP: expect attacks by opposing players.
  • Roleplay: naming and behaviour conventions.
  • Roleplay PvP: those conventions plus open-world PvP risk.

Grouping, dungeons and raids require the same ruleset and faction. Alliance and Horde cannot form a party together. Playing in a different ruleset requires another character; you cannot freely switch your existing one. Hardcore arrives later, with no date announced. Read the Ruleset restrictions.

Compare the exact choices in chat before clicking through character creation. Check game region and account as well. A global launch time should not be treated as a promise about cross-region grouping.

The Classic and Enhanced experience presets concern presentation and interface settings. Pick the one you prefer; settle the shared ruleset separately. See the first-login setup.

Make camp a real stopping point

Camping turns Cooking’s Basic Campfire into a shared campsite. Nearby players can contribute up to three profession-crafted features, one per contributor. Sitting or crafting there for at least one minute activates their benefits; corresponding class buffs do not stack with them. Read the Camping overview.

Use the stop to compare quest progress, check supplies and agree where to go next. Say when you need time to read a tooltip or change a key binding. That is easier than discovering in the next fight that one player is still sorting out an ability.

Your first dungeon is a milestone

Nine new five-player dungeons span levels 13–60. Hall of Thanes, beneath Ironforge, is listed for levels 13–18; Ruins of Lordaeron, above the Undercity, for levels 15–20. Their locations make faction and travel planning relevant as well as character level. Compare the new dungeon routes.

Before arranging a run, confirm levels, who can tank or heal, and how everyone will reach the entrance. Avoid promising a dungeon during a fresh character’s first short session. A successful evening can be learning your abilities and reaching the same quest checkpoint together.

Raids follow later: Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia’s Lair open December 9 for level 60 characters. Check the later content schedule. These are not launch-night objectives.

A concrete 90-minute first session

Try a Normal-ruleset Alliance group, with everyone choosing a race and starting experience they can access. If you want to share the opening quests, agree on the same race and use the first quest giver as a clear meeting point.

  1. Before the session: compare game region, ruleset and faction. Install the same Forever version.
  2. After logging in: confirm everyone has found the agreed meeting point before moving.
  3. Quest together: compare actual objectives before a turn-in so nobody is left finishing alone.
  4. At roughly 45 minutes: stop and compare abilities, supplies and the next shared objective.
  5. Finish after 90 minutes: stop at an agreed quest turn-in or resting place. Record where everyone stopped before arranging the next session.

Those timings are Teamplay’s editorial suggestion, not a leveling guarantee. Agree whether you want to read dialogue, explore side paths or keep moving between objectives. That conversation matters more than promising a particular level by the end.

Find companions for the same start

A clear goal is Europe, Normal, Alliance, one shared starting area, 90 minutes of questing with English voice chat. Say that you want to stay together and learn the opening rather than reach a particular level.

On Teamplay, choose World of Warcraft, set the game version to Forever and select Leveling. Set your region and faction, then write your ruleset, race or starting point, available time and experience in the request text. Ruleset is something to state in your description; it is not a separate Teamplay selector.
